It seems hard to believe, but today marks the 20th birthday of Nintendo’s third major home console. The N64 launched for the first time on June 23rd, 1996 in Japan; release in North America and Europe had to wait until that September and the following year, respectively. Famous titles like Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox 64, Goldeneye 007, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and countless others have helped immortalize the console. While its financial success never matched that of its competitor the PS1, the console has imparted countless memories to the people that experienced it. It is in the hearts and minds of gamers worldwide – and its games are still making memories today.

Happy 20th Birthday, N64!
